삼성 셰프 컬렉션 냉장고는 주 사용자인 중년 이상 여성 주부들의 팔 리치 문제와 그로 인한 신체 통증 가중 문제에 직면했습니다.
이 문제를 해결하기 위해, 양 날개 수납칸에 슬라이드 방식을 적용하여 사용자가 높은 수납칸을 아래로 끌어내릴 수 있게 하여 접근성과 활용도를 높이고 신체적 부담을 해소하는 인체공학적 개선을 하였습니다.
추가로, 음식 악취 문제와 특수 물품 별도 보관 수요를 해결하기 위해, 수납칸을 내렸을 때 생기는 공간에 밀폐형 '히든 셀렉션'을 배치하여 냄새 전이를 막고 오염에 민감한 물품을 분리 보관할 수 있도록 했습니다. 이 디자인 개선은 유니버설 디자인 철학을 구현함과 동시에 내부 오염 문제까지 해결한 사용자 중심의 솔루션입니다.
The Samsung Chef Collection refrigerator faced a usability challenge as its upper compartments were hard to reach for its primary users, middle-aged and older female homemakers, often aggravating physical pain.
To solve this, an ergonomic improvement was made by applying a slide mechanism to the wing compartments, allowing users to easily pull down the upper shelves. This increased accessibility, boosted usability, and alleviated physical strain, embodying universal design.
Additionally, to address persistent food odor issues and the need for separate storage for special items (like medication/cosmetics), a sealed 'Hidden Selection' compartment was placed in the space revealed when the shelf was lowered. This prevents odor transfer and allows for the separate storage of contamination-sensitive items. This design is significant for implementing Universal Design while providing a detailed, user-centric solution that also mitigates internal contamination issues.
